Day 2 of 14: Waka Flocka Flame at Park Street Saloon 10/1/15
Park Street Saloon in Columbus, Ohio hosted Waka Flocka Flame for the second time on October 1st, 2015.
Waka Flocka Flame
Waka Flocka Flame began his set spontaneously entering through the back of the crowd, which set the mood for the majority of the set. The show felt a lot less like a performance, and a lot more like Waka Flocka partying with his friends, as the rapper jumped into the crowd numerous times, dancing, hugging fans, smoking, and even taking selfies. The crowd predominantly contained white, young (and drunk) fans, but Waka Flocka made it clear that he didn’t care who you were or where you came from; he just wanted to make friends and have the time of his life spraying champagne and dancing with beautiful women.
During his set, Waka shared the stage with numerous frantic fans, even playing the role of a kindergarten teacher while inviting two men to the stage who were fighting in the crowd, stating, “You’re trying to f*** my show up! Y’all need to hug!” Despite the fact that one of the men may have slapped the other after said hug, Waka Flocka’s peacemaking manner is nice to see amongst a sea of rappers that try to one-up each other on their latest beef or diss track.
It might seem strange that while some rappers are playing arena concerts, Waka Flocka Flame is spending his nights performing at packed nightclubs. However, don’t fool yourself into thinking this is at all a symbol that Waka Flocka lacks popularity (his 9,000,000+ Facebook likes prove otherwise). However, he’s making it a point to give fans an experience that’s impossible to get at an arena concert. It’s not every day that a bunch of college students get to dance in a crowded club with their rap idols, and the memorable experience Waka creates guarantees that if he does ever decide to tour arenas, he’s going to be welcomed by sold out crowds chanting along with every word.
