Park Street Saloon put on a Sunday show for Columbus metal heads on October 11th, 2015, including Issues and openers Atlas Aria.

Atlas Aria is from Aurora, Illinois and creates progressive metal music. Up until today, the band had only released one song, yet they’ve already opened for CHON, played at the Chicago House of Blues, and recorded a song featuring AJ Rebollo from Issues. Thankfully for us, Atlas Aria finally released their debut EP the same day they opened for Issues.

The band played the EP in full, and stunned the audience with their live performance. For a band that had only been performing live for a few months, they performed as if they’d been touring across the US for years. Surprisingly enough, the band said it had not only been their first show in Ohio—but their first show ever out of Illinois. After watching their performance, I’m afraid Aurora may have to let go of their hometown boys, because it’s only a matter of time before they’re playing to sold-out crowds across the US. Check out their debut EP observation | perspective so two months from now you can tell all of your friends you liked Atlas Aria before they were cool.

If you’re into metal, I can almost guarantee you’ve heard of Issues before. You either love them or you hate them, but there’s no way to ignore that they’ve changed the way many define “metal.” The band’s music often includes keyboards, turntables, sampling, and even rapping in what they call “new nu metal.” As one of their few headlining shows in between opening for Bring Me The Horizon, Issues seemed to embrace the longer set list and the crowded bar filled with screaming fans surrounding them.

The band didn’t talk much during their set, but with the passionate performance they put on, I don’t think anyone noticed, and if they did, they simply didn’t care. The members of Issues were beaming as the crowd incited circle pits and crowd surfing while the band played fan favorites such as “Mad At Myself” and “Hooligans.” Issues even performed a new song, “The Realest,” and told the audience that their second album is finished and will be released soon. Keep an eye out for their upcoming album--Headspace--and check them out on tour with Bring Me The Horizon this fall.
