On October 13th, 2015 Kylesa stopped by The Basement in Columbus on their Exhausting Fire Tour.
Kylesa is a heavy metal band from Savannah, Georgia. In support of their newest album, Exhausting Fire, the band has embarked on a full US tour during October. The band certainly isn’t an ordinary metal band, and shouldn’t be treated as such. During Kylesa’s performance they included two drummers, and even a theremin. Two drummers might seem overbearing, but they didn’t simply echo each other’s parts, they actually created a call-and-response rhythm and flawlessy collaborated with one another. A theremin also might seem a bit out of place, but it created an interesting pair with Laura Pleasants’ (guitar/vocals) haunting melodies as well as the dooming tones emanating from Chase Rudeseal’s bass. Kylesa’s performance melded brutal instrumentals with psychedelic vibes and sinister vocals. Be sure to catch them on tour, and check out their new album--Exhausting Fire.
